This course will not certify anyone as a lifeguard, only build a foundation of knowledge, attitude, and skills in preparation of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course. Entry into the WDCPRD Junior Lifeguard course is $30, (there is an additional cost of $30 for participants completing their initial American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED certification, current certified card holders are exempt from additional cost.) By enrolling in the Junior Lifeguarding Program participants will also be enrolled in the WDCPRD Conditioning Camp on April 26th-May 6th. Prepare today, to succeed tomorrow.

Weaverville/Douglas City Parks and Recreation District will be hosting the 2021 Aquatic Conditioning Camp, primarily for any individuals interested in applying to be a lifeguard at Lowden Park Pool during the summer of 2021, but also for individuals looking to get more in shape prior to the start of summer. Starting at 6 PM, this camp will take place Monday-Thursday starting on April 26th with the final day taking place on May 6th. For those applying as a lifeguard, the prerequisite water test will take place on the final day of the Conditioning Camp (May 6th.) Although participation in this camp is not required, nor does it guarantee employment, it is a great opportunity to prepare your body for the 300-yard (12 laps) water-test all lifeguard applicants must pass prior to beginning the interview process. Throughout the duration of the camp, participants will progressively build up their overall endurance as well as refine their freestyle (front crawl) and breast strokes. Entry into this camp is just $10, so whether you are interested in becoming a lifeguard or just looking to get some low-impact exercise, SIGN UP NOW! Registration paperwork is available at the Parks and Recreation Office, as well as can be completed or downloaded online at wdcparksrec.com. For more information or if you have any questions, call the office at 530-623-5925 or send an email to wdcprdoffice@gmail.com!
